Recent Bergen Community College graduate and honor student Isaac Alejo-Reyes has joined the institution’s board of trustees as its alumni representative. Elected by students, the alumni trustee serves on the College’s governing body with full voting rights during a one-year term. Alejo-Reyes, of Cliffside Park, took the oath of office at a regular meeting of the board July 12.

Alejo-Reyes, who graduated as part of Bergen’s class of 2016 in May, distinguished himself as a member of the College’s internationally recognized chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society of two-year institutions. Earlier this year, Alejo-Reyes earned enshrinement into the regional chapter member hall of honors and received both regional and international recognition as a distinguished chapter member. While at Bergen, he also served as an English, Spanish, math and biology tutor and peer mentor. Alejo-Reyes now attends Rutgers University, studying animal science and entomology.
