The Performing Arts department sponsors 3 clubs at the college: the Music Interactive Club, the Theatre Club, and the Dance Club.
The Music Interactive Club is a student-run organization which puts on various on-campus shows featuring student musical talent. Recent productions have included student recitals, “Bergen Unplugged” featuring acoustic-based performances of original music, and a Battle of the Bands.
The Performing Arts department, in conjunction with the Communication department, also produces a podcast series entitled Tri-State Live, a live radio format show featuring musicians from the NJ/NY/CT region performing original music live and being interviewed by Bergen students and faculty. The Tri-State Live program offers students an excellent opportunity to get involved in multi-track music recording and mixing, or to practice their skills as a radio show host.
In addition, the department sponsors many concerts and theatrical productions throughout the year using student talent.
The Theatre Club
The Theatre Club is one of the most active clubs at Bergen Community College. Its members meet every Thursday afternoon from 12:30 to 1:30 in E-10.During our meetings, we discuss and plan the many events and projects in which the club is involved. These include working on the BCC student Theatre productions, both onstage and backstage, selling refreshments at these events, overseeing bake sales and other fundraisers, organizing and performing in the bi-annual Comedy Improv Night, participating in the annual Psychodrama Workshop, attending Broadway and Off Broadway shows, and enjoying the annual Theatre Club Christmas party and end of the year banquet.
In addition to these activities, the club makes its meetings fun and exciting, frequently engaging in improvisation and theatre games, reading new student written plays, having its members share their skills and talents with the club in workshops, and eating goodies brought in by club members for each meeting.
We welcome new members at any time of the year! For more information, students may contact Professor Mary Clifford, the club adviser, at (201) 447-7884 or email her at [email protected].
