Bergen Community College earned a TEDx license to host its first TEDx event on April 25, 2013. Obtaining a TEDx license is extremely competitive with less than 20 colleges or universities having received such an honor.

The TEDx program gives communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. TEDx events are planned and coordinated independently. During a TEDx event live speakers speak for up to 15 minutes on a subject of their choosing (vetted by the organizer, PJR).
