BCC Foundation Ways to Give

You can become a member of the Bergen family with a gift to the Foundation.  The Foundation accepts gifts in all amounts-no gift is too small.  Gifts may be designated for a specific use, or they may be directed to the Foundation’s unrestricted fund to be used wherever it is most needed within the College.

A contribution to the “Securing Our Future Endowed Scholarship Fund” will help ensure available scholarship dollars for deserving students for generations to come.  With a gift of $10,000 or more, you can establish a named endowment in an area of importance to you, your family, or your corporation.  Whatever the purpose, a contribution that will benefit the residents of this community for years to come.

Since 1965, Bergen Community College has played a significant role in providing educational opportunities for the residents of this community.  Each year, approximately 33,000 students enroll in credit-bearing or continuing education courses.  Although county and state taxes have made much of this possible, in recent years less than 20 percent of the College’s annual operating budget was state and county funded.  The balance is raised through tuition and student fees, student aid, grants, and private fundraising initiatives coordinated by the Bergen Community College Foundation.

Through private fundraising efforts, the Bergen Community College Foundation seeks to bridge the gap between limited government funding and those resources critical to the College.  Total contributions received by the BCC foundation since its inception in 1982 have surpassed the $17 million mark.

Gift of Giving

You can become a member of the BCC family with a gift of education that will benefit the residents of this community for years to come.  We gladly accept gifts made online by check or with a credit card.

  • One time or annual gift for scholarship purposes
  • Endowed scholarships
  • Naming opportunities
  • Special event support

Gifts of Personal Property:

  • Gifts of art, furniture or other personal property shall be accepted only after approval by the BCC Board of Trustees.
  • Deed of Gift Form is to be signed by the Donor.
  • Terms Regarding Acceptance of Gifts Form to be signed by the Donor as well as the BCC Foundation Chairman/President.
  • Appropriate and unbiased appraisals must be supplied by the Donor on items valued at $5,000 or more.  The BCC Foundation and the BCC Board of Trustees, on a per case basis, may also require unbiased appraisals on potential gifts than $5,000 in value.  An IRS Form 8283, prepared by the appraiser, will be signed by the BCC Foundation Director upon delivery.

Ways of Giving

Whatever the purpose, your contribution will benefit the residents of this community for years to come.

Donors may choose to establish a planned gift, trust or life insurance policy to acknowledge the education received and values learned at BCC.

Although the easiest gift to give is cash, it is also possible to:

  • Make a multi-year pledge
  • Apply for employer-sponsored gift matching
  • Donate appreciated securities
  • Name the BCC Foundation as the beneficiary in an insurance policy
  • Give personal property or real estate
  • Remember the Bergen Community College Foundation and a selected fund in your will or annuity
