Educational Opportunity Fund
“Keep your dreams alive.Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication.Remember all things are possible for those who believe.”
~ Gail Devers, Olympic Gold Medalist
The Educational Opportunity Fund Program at Bergen Community College provides a support system sensitive to the needs of its program participants. It fosters both intellectual and leadership development through the creation of a learning community, to equip students with the necessary skills to fulfill the needs of society.Within a changing society we acknowledge the need for continuous self assessment to ensure that we are responding to the needs of the students that we serve.
The Mission of the EOF Program is to contribute to the development of a college educated public that reflects the diversity of New Jersey. It provide access to higher education and support for highly motivated students who exhibit the potential for success, but who are unprepared for the demands of college. The EOF program acknowledges the distinctive needs of our students and seeks to maximize academic success by providing academic, social and emotional support services, financial assistance, and leadership development activities.
To ensure the opportunity to attend college, EOF provides supplemental financial aid to help cover college costs that are not covered by the state’s Tuition Aid Grant Program. To further help insure student success, all EOF students are assigned an individual counselor who will work closely with them and help them navigate the demands of college life.Support services designed to maintain student retention include academic, personal, and career counseling, individual tutoring and study groups, and a variety of workshops designed to improve academic and leadership skills related to the successful completion of a college program. The EOF staff, administration and faculty at BCC are committed to providing a nurturing and supportive learning environment in which eligible students will flourish and develop into tomorrow’s community leaders and lifelong learners.
