The Cashore Marionettes are known around the world for redefining the art of puppetry.

On Saturday, November 21, 2009, the group will visit Bergen Community College for a pair of shows: a 3:00 p.m. children’s performance (“Simple Gifts”) and a 7:30 p.m. show for adults (“Life in Motion”). Both shows will take place in the Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre, located at 400 Paramus Road, Paramus.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children (17 and under) for the afternoon performance and $20 for adults and $18 for students, children (17 and under) and senior citizens (65 and over) for the evening performance.

Both shows arrange Joseph Cashore’s intricate marionettes in scenes set to classical music from Beethoven, Vivaldi and Copland. So much more than mere puppets, the Cashore Marionettes artistry received a Citation of Excellence from UNIMAUSA, the highest honor American puppeteers can achieve. A question and answer session will follow the evening performance.

The performances are part of Bergen’s “This & That from Here & There” Performing Arts Series. For ticket information or for a full schedule of events, please call Bergen’s Office of Community and Cultural Affairs at (201) 447-7428 or go to www.bergen.edu/cca
