Ms. Harriet Terodemos

Program Coordinator

Department: Allied Health

Please list your academic & professional credentials:
B.S., Purdue University
C.V.T., New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association
M.S., Montclair State University (anticipated date of graduation: January 2008)

Biography: When I was younger, I would bring home stray animals all the time. Dogs, cats, birds, you name it. Animals were my childhood obsession. While growing up, I always knew that I wanted to have a career in which I would be allowed to aid and take care of them. I attended Purdue University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science in 1997. Since then I have had a wonderful career in veterinary technology. I am a Certified Veterinary Technician in the state of New Jersey and the coordinator of Bergen’s Veterinary Technology Program. I am also a full-time faculty member of the Northern New Jersey Consortium for Veterinary Technician Education. In addition, I am currently enrolled in a master’s degree program at Montclair State University where I am studying Biology.

What made you decide to become a faculty/staff member?: I love to teach. I feel that by teaching veterinary technology, I am able to touch so many lives, both human and animal.

How do you personally define success in the learning outcomes of your students?: I am always receiving compliments from veterinarians and animal clinicians who have hired or are hosting our students during their externships. That makes me extremely proud. Students will often send me a note after they graduate and are in practice letting me know that they are using every bit of knowledge they acquired during their time in the program.

What have you learned from your students?:I am always learning from my students. They keep me updated on all the new and exciting trends, as well the interesting cases that they have seen in their clinics. Some of my students are interested in caring for exotic animals, so I learn new things all the time about a variety of interesting species.
