Degree Seeking: A.A.S. in Drafting and Design Technology

Biography: I was born and raised in Puebla, Mexico. At the age of seven, I immigrated to the United States. I spent my first two years in this country living in Grand Island, Nebraska. I then moved to New York City for nine years, in which time I graduated from middle school and later, high school. I’m now living in Ridgefield Park, NJ. I have extensively studied Archeology, Cultural Anthropology and Architecture in Mexico. I’m currently studying Drafting and Design Technology. I plan on finishing the work for an associate degree at Bergen Community College and aspire to continue my studies for a bachelor’s degree at Boston Architectural College. In addition to my academic interests, I have several hobbies that I am actively involved in. I used to be a dancer for a company in New York City and I have painted several murals for NY Cares when I have time during the summer. I am currently the President of the Student Government Council and am also a Student Ambassador for the College.

Why did you choose Bergen Community College?: My uncle recommended Bergen, touting it to be a school that offered quality education at an affordable price. In addition, the Drafting and Design program offered here was a perfect fit for me as I am pursuing a future in architecture.

What advice would you give a prospective student?: Challenge this college to be better; only you can make this school a better one, it’s up to you to make it a greater place. You are the force that creates this institution; be responsible by studying and working hard. Remember that the future is a result of the present; if you work hard to be better now, you will be able to be better in the future.

What has been your favorite academic experience so far?: My Drafting and Design classes have been my favorite experiences at Bergen. I want to thank the professors that teach in this department.
