- Why has Bergen Community College opened a new campus location at the Meadowlands?

Bergen Community College opened a new campus in the Meadowlands to expand its educational resources to the southern part of Bergen County and support state and local economic development initiatives. Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands will also provide fundamental job training to employees at Xanadu, a sports, leisure, shopping and family entertainment complex scheduled to open in the near future. The College will utilize the Lyndhurst facility at 1280 Wall Street West, Lyndhurst, as it moves forward to securing a permanent location.

- What kind of courses will Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands offer students?

The mission of Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands is to work in collaboration with the community and businesses to provide educational resources and job training initiatives to help students reap the benefits of the region’s service-sector economy. The College also provides customized training services to support the workforce development needs of businesses.
The College will offer assessment tests for students in the fields of English, math, retail math, language skills, and reading and writing. Students, whose native language isn’t English, can improve their communication skills by enrolling in “English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) Training.” Retailers can enroll in Bergen’s continuing education classes and receive customized training services to support human resource needs.

- If I have already enrolled in classes at the Paramus campus can I still take classes at the Lyndhurst facility or transfer from the same class I’m taking at the Paramus location to the same class being offered at the Lyndhurst site?

You can take classes at both facilities. For the fall 2009 semester, the College will waive the drop/add fee for switching courses as long as you have a signature from the appropriate Dean or department head.

- Is there bus transportation available between the College’s Paramus campus and the new Lyndhurst facility?

There currently aren’t any intercampus transportation services being offered between the two buildings. However, there are public bus routes available to and from each location from various locations in surrounding municipalities.

- Will there be a cafeteria on-site at the Lyndhurst facility?

There is cafeteria service at the Lyndhurst facility serving breakfast and lunch.

- Is the Lyndhurst facility handicap accessible?
|
Yes, the building is compliant with disability requirements.

- Is parking available at the Lyndhurst building?
|
Yes, parking is available to professors and students. Please fill out a motor vehicle registration form with the College’s Public Safety Department (Pitkin Education Center, Room L154). The decal should be permanently affixed to the motor vehicle in accordance with existing regulations.
