How do I get involved?
Elections will be held this spring for members of the Council. People interested in serving on the Council may nominate themselves or you may nominate someone from your group that you think would make a positive contribution. Each group at the college will elect their own representatives. Email your nomination to collegecouncil@bergen.edu. Detailed information on nomination and election can be found by clicking on Elections on the left hand menu. The anticipated closing date for nominations is April 3. The nomination slates will be prepared by April 20and elections are scheduled for May 7 through 11.
How do I know what I would be getting into?
This first year elected Council members will serve either one or two year terms. Approximately one half of the Council seats will rotate each year. In subsequent years anyone elected to the Council will serve a two year term. The College Council will meet between four and eight times per year.Most members will also participate on one or more of the sub-committees; these will meet on varying schedules. The members of the Council will elect their Steering Committee. Members of the Steering Committee will have additional responsibilities so will make a larger time commitment.
