Council Elections
College Council Election Information
The College Council Elections and Nominations Work Group is very excited to announce that we have over 70 members of the College community running for Council positions. As we all know our College has become a large and diverse community which will be well-served by having a forum where our many voices can be heard as we face the challenges ahead. We on the Council believe that the greatest likelihood of finding the best solutions comes from having difficult yet necessary conversations.
There are five categories of candidates for the elections scheduled from May 7 to May 11: Administrative/Professional Staff, Full-time Faculty; Part-time Faculty, Support Staff, and Technical/Professional Assistants. Voting will be by category, for example, only members of the support staff will vote for the support staff candidates. There are some employees who do not fit “neatly” into traditional definitions, such as project personnel and confidential employees. Council representatives are making every effort to place these employees into the most closely affiliated group. Once these voting lists are developed the employees will be notified as to their particular group. Student members will be selected by a separate process.
Voting will be conducted online by an independent company that specializes in elections such as this. Once the company has set up the candidate lists the exact web address for each group of candidates will be listed here. In addition, each voting group will be sent the website address for their group and information about how to login. Each employee will have a unique login and password. Computers will also be set up in various locations throughout the college for those who do not have internet access. Assistance will be available at posted times for those who are unfamiliar with the Internet. Employees may vote for as many seats as their group has on the Council. Part-time faculty, for example, have three seats on the Council so they may vote for three candidates. The three candidates receiving the most votes will be elected.
Candidate Information
The lists of candidates for each group on the Council are displayed at www.bergen.edu/pages/4424.asp.
"Meet the Candidates"
We want to give all members of the College an opportunity to get to know their candidates so that they can make informed choices. Three opportunities have been set up for groups on campus to meet the people who wish to represent them.
Full-time Faculty, Part-time Faculty and TA/PA on Tuesday, April 28, from 1:30 to 3:30 in A-113
Support Staff on Wednesday, April 29, from 3:00 – 5:00 in A-113
Administrative/Professional Staff on Monday, May 4, from 3:00 – 5:00 in A-113
The Council regrets that these days and times may not accommodate all schedules. We attempted to find the most likely times that candidates and voters would be available given the many constraints on schedules.
Any inquiries about the election may be emailed to collegecouncil@bergen.edu

- In order to vote you need a user name and password. (See "How do you vote" instructions below). Your password is based on your BCC id number so have it ready when you vote. Your id number is on your BCC ID card and, if you submit one, your time sheet. If you cannot find your id number, call Susan DiSanto in Human resources at ext 7731 (447-7731). If you leave a message, be sure to specify a number where we can return your call.
- Type this website address into your browser window https://eballot.votenet.com/bcc or click here.
- The first screen is the login screen. You are asked for your username and password.
- Your username is your first initial and last name, for example, Juan Reyes, will login in as jreyes. Your password is your first and last initial followed by your 7 digit BCC id number, for example, if Juan Reyes’ id number is 0012345 his password is jr0012345. Note it is important to use all seven (7) digits by putting all the leading zeroes (0). Remember, your id number is on your BCC id card.
- When you enter your username and password you should next see a screen with the list of candidates for your group. Next to the candidates name is an icon. If you click on the icon you will see the candidate’s picture and statement. Remember, you can preview all the candidates on the College Council website www.bergen.edu/collegecouncil. Just click on Council Elections then on Candidates or go directly to http://www.bergen.edu/pages/4424.asp
- Click on the vote icon next to your chosen candidate. You may vote for as many candidates as there are seats available for your group, for example, Part-time faculty have three (3) seats so a part-time faculty member may vote for up to 3 candidates. You do not have to vote for the maximum number. Ballots with fewer votes are perfectly acceptable.
- Once you have chosen on your candidates click on VOTE.
- What to do if you have a problem?
We hope that everything goes smoothly but this is our first college-wide election so it is always possible that some problems could occur. See the list below for potential problems and a possible solution.

Answer (2): Double check your ID number. Be sure you included the leading zeroes. If you don’t have your ID card call Susan DiSanto at ext 7731 (447-7731). If you leave a message, be sure to specify a number where we can return your call .
