Bergen Community College’s Women’s Institute held its first conference on October 2, 2009. The conference included keynote speakers, workshops and other resources to support and nurture women's educational, emotional and physical needs throughout the many phases of life. 

The conference featured several speakers throughout the day who shared life experiences and offered advice to women interested in taking their personal and professional lives to the next step.

The morning keynote was Rachel Simmons, NY Times best selling author of “Curse of the Good Girl” and several books about bullying. She is an author, educator and coach helping girls and young women grow into authentic, emotionally intelligent and assertive adults. She spoke about the long-lasting effects bullying has on young girls and how it differs from the type of bullying boys’ experience.  

Barbara Frankel, Sr. Vice President and Editor of Diversity, Inc. spoke in the afternoon about "What Makes a Great Company for Women."

Afternoon sessions included professional career guidance, health and lifestyle learning, community resources and exhibitor booths. Attendees could take part in relaxing yoga, attend one-on-one mini-coaching sessions and network with the institute board members and special guests.

Save The Date:  The Women’s Institute will be holding their second annual conference on October 1, 2010.
