An EBS student, William Vicuna, receives a certificate for completing his Service Learning project.

Craig Phillips, a recently appointed student senator, comments on how his EBS course assisted him in preparing for the election and will assist him in fulfilling his duties.

Hi, my name is Craig Phillips and I was elected as one of the senators for the Fall 2004 semester.
Something that I think has given me a lot of courage and a better sense of dealing with people I don't know is my English Basic Skills 016/017 class. It was something that helped me a lot in getting ready for elections this semester.
I used to not like to speak in front of the class. Now I am a lot more prepared to speak in front of people even if I do not know any of them. Also, I am a lot more prepared to work with people I do not know. I never really had to work with people I did not know in the past, but in class we had to work with everyone.
The most I got out of my EBS class was how to write the right way. For example, when I was getting ready for my campaign, I had to give support when I spoke to the people and my writing class helped me learn how to give support. Now when I write I know that I will be more prepared and will make good presentations. |
EBS students hold their prizes after winning a grammar game that the class played.
Many thanks to Gina Butka for sharing her work with students on these pages.
