Dr. Ricatto began his career as a high school chemistry teacher in Brooklyn, New York in 1985, returned to graduate school in 1990, and earned a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the City University of New York in 1994. He joined the Bergen Community College Science Department in 1994 and was promoted to full Professor in 2008.

Over the years, he has collaborated on environmental engineering research projects with the Center for Environmental Systems at Stevens Institute of Technology. This research was conducted on behalf of NASA, DARPA, EPA, ONR and NJ DEP.

Dr. Ricatto has published over a dozen scientific papers and holds two U.S. patents for the application of non-thermal plasma for environmental decontamination.
