World Language Testing

*Please note that the CLEP and NYU language proficiency examinations are not administered at Bergen Community College.

  • Bergen Community College awards credit and/or course waivers for World Languages through the New York University Proficiency Testing in Foreign Language Program, and the College Level Examination Program (CLEP).
  • The NYU Language Proficiency Tests are accepted only if the 16 point examination is passed with a score of 13 or higher, and three (3) credits are awarded at BCC.  Go to the NYU website for more information about the NYU language proficiency testing.
  • Please have the official examination results delivered/sent to The Office of Admissions in room A115 on the main campus in the Pitkin Education Center.

Advanced Placement

Bergen Community College students may earn college credit through Advanced Placement (AP) examination in Spanish, French and German with a score of 3 or above. Scores must be received directly from the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB). If you scored a 3, you will receive 6 credits (Elementary I and II). If you score a 4 or a 5, you will receive 9 credits (Elementary I and II, and Intermediate I and II.).
