Keith Chu is professor of history and academic department chair. He specializes in Medieval and Early Modern European history with a particular focus on the institutions, economy, and society of England and the Low Countries. Research and teaching interests also includes the history of science, 19th century US history, and historical geography. He regularly teaches courses in the honors college. Professor Chu has held fellowships from the Nation Endowment for the Humanities and the United States Institute of Peace. Prof. Chu is currently engaged in projects involving new approaches to the study of historical sources through digital technology. Outside the college, he is actively involved in public history to make the study of the past accessible to all. In his spare time he plays jazz trumpet.
