Beginning Literacy – New Readers

Under Three Months

This 210-hour course is designed for non-high school degreed students whose eventual goal is to enter the HSE course and who are in need of remediation on their reading, writing and elementary math skills.

Beginning and Low Intermediate Literacy

Under Three Months

This course is designed for Beginning and Low Intermediate students who want to achieve the HSE diploma and/or improve basic literacy skills. These students need a review of the HSE test subjects (writing, social studies, science, literature, math and essay writing), and/or who need assistance in test taking strategies.

Time to Complete: 4-11 weeks
Prerequisites: TABE Reading score of 4-5.9

High Intermediate for HSE Bound Students

Under Three Months

This course is designed for high intermediate to advanced HSE bound students who want to achieve the HSE diploma and improve basic literacy skills. These students need a review of the HSE test subjects (writing, social studies, science, literature, math and essay writing), and/or who need assistance in test taking strategies.

Prerequisites: TABE Reading score of 6.0-9.9

Beginning English Proficiency

Under Three Months

This course is designed for English Language students at the Beginning ESL level of English proficiency in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing. This course will begin to develop the basic listening, reading and writing skills necessary for the correct usage and pronunciation of the English language.

Time to Complete: 4-11 weeks
Prerequisites:  TABE CLAS E Listening/Speaking Score of 230-407

Low and High Beginning English Proficiency

Under Three Months

The Low and High Beginning English Proficiency Level 2 course will enable students to acquire knowledge in preparation for success in American culture. The class will discuss the English language, basic grammar structures, phonology, listening, and vocabulary development. This course is taught with an emphasis on workplace skills, community and parental involvement and civics.

Prerequisites:  TABE CLAS E Listening/Speaking Score of 408-485
Cost: $686

Low Intermediate English Proficiency

Under Three Months

The Low Intermediate English Proficiency Level 3 course will enable student acquire knowledge in preparation for success in American culture. The class will discuss the English language, basic grammar structures, phonology, listening, and vocabulary development. This course is taught with an emphasis on workplace skills, community and parental involvement and civics.

High Intermediate English Proficiency

The High Intermediate English Proficiency Level 4 course will enable students to acquire knowledge in preparation for success in American Culture. The class will discuss the English language, basic grammar structures, phonology, listening, and vocabulary development. This course is taught with an emphasis on workplace skills, community and parental involvement and civics.

Advanced English Proficiency

Under Three Months

This course is designed for Advanced ESL students who want to further improve this English Language abilities and skills in understanding, conversing and functioning at a high level of English. This course refines students’ English skills learned at lower levels and teaches them advanced language skills that will further enable the students to function with confidence in everyday life and work. This course is taught with emphasis on conversation, especially in workplace situations.

Prerequisites:  TABE CLAS E Listening/Speaking Score of 559-600
