V. J. Patel Family Information Commons

VJ Patel Information commons

June 29, 2006 saw the unveiling of the V.J. Patel Family Information Commons in the Technology Education Center. The Patel Family Information Commons is unique in that it provides a dedicated area for BCC students to meet, discuss, and collaborate in their studies. Computer workstations in the facility provide access to BCC library materials as well as to the Internet. Small groups can work collaboratively in the information commons in traditional work stations or in one of the groupings of lounge furniture.

At the unveiling of the sign dedicating the facility, BCC President Dr. Judith Winn spoke of the importance of these naming opportunities when she stated: “They have allowed us to provide scholarships for deserving students and to expand programs to meet increasing enrollment needs. As a result of recent gifts, new programs have received state-of-the-art equipment for their labs and existing programs have upgraded equipment to ensure that we are giving our students the most up-to-date experiences in our classrooms and labs.”
