DESCRIPTION:Written during the Harlem Renaissance\, “I\, Too” (initially published in 1926) is a powerful declaration of Black pride\, resilience\, and hope. The poem serves as a direct response to Walt Whitman’s “I Hear America Singing\,” offering an alternative vision of who belongs to the American story. \nPresentation offered by Professor Earl Taylor.
