SUMMARY:Gallery Bergen Virtual Exhibition: "Black Lives Matter at BCC: Photographs from the Life of Protest"
DESCRIPTION:Gallery Bergen is pleased to announce the opening of its latest online virtual exhibition\, “Black Lives Matter at BCC: Photographs from the Life of Protest.” This show presents the work of Rowin\, Denice\, and Rae Breaux – a family of activist photographers who were participants in the Black Lives Matter protests in Minneapolis and Brooklyn during the summer of 2020. The photographs display a sensitive and sometimes searing eyewitness account of the events that riveted the nation following the death of George Floyd this past June. In addition to the photographs\, the exhibition also features interviews conducted with Denice and Rowin Breaux\, Jamal Joseph (filmmaker\, Columbia University professor and former Black Panther Party member\,) and Dr. Akinyele Umoja (Georgia State University professor and founder of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement.) The exhibition can be seen online at blmatbcc.com beginning February 4. A virtual opening livestream is scheduled for Wednesday\, February 17 at 7:00 p.m. The stream will be live on Gallery Bergen’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/GalleryBergenAtBergenCommunityCollege/live/ and YouTube at https://youtu.be/6poPRuwu1Xw
