Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) Form

1. The purpose of the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) is to serve as a central network of specialized Administrators and Faculty focused on the prevention of disruptive behavior and providing early intervention through referral to resources and services.
2. The Behavioral Intervention Team is not a crisis emergency response team, rather seeks to implement proactive strategies before a situation becomes a crisis.
3. The team will initiate, identify, and coordinate responses and actions for those within the college community who show signs of serious emotional distress, or behaviors that are disruptive/ or harmful to themselves or others.

The BIT process DOES NOT REPLACE faculty classroom management, disciplinary processes, and/or public safety or law enforcement responses to incidents. The BIT process provides the opportunity to help someone in need by referring concerning, alarming or distressing behaviors.

Please note that with regard to Behavioral Intervention Team reports submitted, student records are protected by a federal privacy law called the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, therefore any information regarding the outcome of this report will not be shared with you without the direct consent of the student(s) involved.
If this situation persists, where there may be a violation of the Student Code of Conduct, or crime, please call Public Safety at 201-447-9200 or 911. Thank you for your care and concern of our student community.
