Paramus, NJ-  Anthony Bertollo was awarded the 2021-22 Region XIX Robert Zifack Male Student-Athlete of the Year Award.  He was honored at Bergen Community College’s Board of Trustees Meeting on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.  Anthony is the first student-athlete in Bergen Community College history to receive this award.

Bertollo graduated from Bergen in Spring 2022 with an Associate in Science, Professional Studies Broadcasting Major.  He was on the Honor’s list in Fall 2020 and on the Dean’s List in Spring 2021, Fall 2021, and Spring 2022. His hard work in the classroom earned him a Bergen Community College Certificate for having demonstrated academic excellence by achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout his college career. He also volunteered to help construct the stage in Bergenstages’ student theater production for “12 Angry Jurors” (2022).

He accomplished all this while participating in Cross Country and Track and Field in both 2020-21 and 2021-22. He earned All Region in the 2021 Region XIX Cross Country Championship Meet, by finishing in (7th Place). He then went on to compete in the 2021 NJCAA National Cross Country Meet where he finished in 36th place out of 140 runners.

Bertollo’s achievement both in the classroom and on the field earned him 2021 and 2022 NJCAA 1st team All American Academic honors, 2021 and 2022 All-Region XIX Academic Honors, and 2021 and 2022 Garden State Athletics Conference All-Academic Honors.

Bertollo recently finished his first semester at Ramapo College of New Jersey. He is continuing his intercollegiate athletic career running on both the cross country team, winter track, and spring track and field teams. He is majoring in digital filmmaking at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Bergen’s Athletics department congratulates and wishes Bertollo the best in his future endeavors.
