Sophia MarquezBergen Community College student Sophia Marquez is studying computer science while playing as a student-athlete. She was the team captain of Bergen’s women’s volleyball team. In November 2022, Marquez earned 1st Team All-Region and All-Conference honors and was named the Garden State Athletic Conference DIII Women’s Volleyball player of the week. As an active student, she was a student leader on the student advisory committee. She said, “Bergen has helped me form strong bonds with amazing people, teachers, coaches, and others.” When asked why she chose Bergen, Marquez cited how Bergen offers “athletic opportunities, is cost effective, and is a good school.” She anticipates to graduate with the class of 2025.

Based in Paramus, Bergen Community College (www.bergen.edu), a public two-year coeducational college, enrolls more than 13,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst. The College offers associate degree, certificate and continuing education programs in a variety of fields. More students graduate from Bergen than any other community college in the state.
