Research Interests

Using an interdisciplinary approach and building on extensive oral histories, my research examines the modern women’s movement and second wave feminism in Orange County, California – a conservative heartland – and explores the interplay between location, regional identity, and feminist practice.  My research highlights the hard-fought struggles feminists and their allies waged against a mobilized New Right and works towards a reassessment of the conservative resurgence that followed in the wake of the social and political realignments of the 1960s.
