BERGENFIELD, N.J. – Even for those players who went bust at the annual Bergen Community College Veterans Committee Poker Tournament, their stack of chips went to a good cause. In total, 54 players helped raise more than $3,200 for the College’s student veterans emergency fund, which assists former military members or reservists enrolled at the institution. The sold-out event took place Oct. 2 at the Bergenfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6467, which donated the space for the tournament.
Based in Paramus, Bergen Community College (www.bergen.edu), a public two-year coeducational college, enrolls more than 13,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst.
