MAHWAH, N.J. – Officials from two Bergen County institutions – Bergen Community College and Ramapo College of New Jersey – have signed an agreement streamlining the transfer process for music majors. The deal allows Bergen graduates with an associate of fine arts in music business or technology to enter Ramapo with more than 60 credits toward a bachelor of arts in music industry or production already completed.

Signed Feb. 25 in the Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts at Ramapo’s main campus, Bergen’s A.F.A. programs include intensive curricula that compare favorably to the programs offered at Ramapo, thus making the agreement a reality.

Bergen maintains 45 articulation agreements with four-year institutions such as New York University, Johnson & Wales and many in-state universities. New Jersey community college students can also take advantage of the New Jersey Statewide Transfer Initiative, which facilitates credit transfers between two- and four-year institutions.

Bergen Community College (www.bergen.edu) based in Paramus is a public two-year coeducational college, enrolling nearly 16,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip J. Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst. The College offers associate degree, certificate and continuing education programs in a variety of fields.
