Jensy JimenezBergen Community College student Jensy Jimenez, ’26, is pursuing an associate of science degree in engineering science for a career in engineering. His interests have been focused on environmental engineering, robotics, and AI-driven automation systems.

“The College has allowed me to explore the intersection of environmental systems, robotics, and artificial intelligence while building real-world projects that have tangible impact,” said Jimenez, of Woodridge, who has an incredible drive and desire to pursue multiple interests and projects at the same time.

Deeply engaged in engineering and entrepreneurship, Jimenez has applied his technical skills to solve real-world problems through the integration of software development with environmental solutions. While maintaining 4.0 G.P.A. at Bergen, he serves as the Lead AI engineer for the startup Nexus Verium, an environmental engineering venture focused on restoring waterways with autonomous systems and machine learning.

“Balancing rigorous coursework with engineering projects, startup development, and community service has strengthened both my technical foundation and my ability to lead,” said Jimenez.

Jimenez works extensively with technologies such as Node.js, React, and modern AI frameworks to build full-stack applications and intelligent automation systems. He also leads Bite Sites LLC, a freelance web development and AI automation company that delivers digital infrastructure, UX/UI redesigns, and custom automation solutions for local businesses.

“My success at Bergen Community College comes from my dedication to learning, my ability to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects, and my strong leadership and communication skills,” said Jimenez.

In the Spring 2026 semester, Jimenez, a USDA NIFA Scholar, served as Chief of Staff at the second annual Model USDA event where he received a standout student award. He has led initiatives, such as The Bodega Project, which focused on improving food systems and access within urban communities.

In the Fall 2025 semester, Jimenez served as an intern in Bergen’s Office of Marketing and Communications where he developed social media content to support significant initiatives including the Technical Exchange Program between Bergen and Southport College in the United Kingdom.

In the Spring 2025 semester, Jimenez was one of 10 student interns in the inaugural data analyst program under the College’s Bergen for Business workforce development initiative. As a student intern in the data analyst program, Jimenez utilized data visualization and dashboards with Excel. He has focused on public health research and completed a data evaluation paper utilizing Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) resources.

“My success at Bergen comes from consistently applying what I learn to real-world challenges,” he said. “Through building automation systems, developing platforms for businesses, and serving my community, I’ve been able to grow as both an engineer and a problem-solver.”

Jimenez is a member of Phi Psi Lambda Leadership Society (Alpha Chapter), the Judith K. Winn School of Honors, and a peer leader in the Title V program at Bergen. He is a member of the Chess Club and the Music Club. He is a transportation coordinator at EZ Ride where he works on community education and advocacy for safe transportation.

“I chose Bergen Community College because of its strong academic programs and the opportunities it provides for leadership, research, innovation, and professional development,” said Jimenez. “The College has allowed me to engage in meaningful extracurricular activities, gain experience in data analytics and public health research, and develop my skills through leadership positions, such as being a peer leader in the Title V program.”

“Bergen Community College’s supportive faculty and diverse student body have played a major role in my growth,” said Jimenez who provided testimony and advocated for the modernization of community colleges in the state of New Jersey at the State House in Trenton.

“Being a part of the Judith K. Winn School of Honors, serving as a Peer Leader in the Title V program, and engaging in public health research have strengthened my academic foundation,” he said. “Additionally, my involvement in advocacy work, such as testifying at the State House in Trenton, and my participation in student organizations like the Chess Club and Music Club, have helped me develop a well-rounded perspective and a strong network within the Bergen Community College community.”

Jimenez was recently selected as a role model for Hispanics Inspiring Students’ Performance and Achievement (HISPA). In February 2026, he was honored during Dominican Independence Day in Bergen County. Jimenez’s commitment to service has been recognized through awards for outstanding community involvement from the Bergen County Commissioner’s Office and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.

Actively involved in community service, he volunteers on the media team at Transformation Life Church where he supports live streaming, engages with the community, and works on digital outreach through social media. Grounded in his faith, Jimenez approaches artificial intelligence not just as a tool for efficiency, but as a responsibility. He chooses to prioritize ethical design, human dignity, and real-world impact in the systems that he builds.

He expects to graduate in 2026. He is currently preparing to transfer to a four-year institution to continue his studies in engineering.

Based in Paramus, Bergen Community College (www.bergen.edu), a public two-year coeducational college, enrolls more than 24,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst. The College offers associate degree, certificate and continuing education programs in a variety of fields. More students graduate from Bergen than any other community college in the state.
