Erwin Forley (né Feuerstein) was born on December 6th, 1927, in Košice, Czechoslovakia. After being sent into the Munkacs Ghetto, Erwin and his family were deported to Auschwitz, where his grandmother and 12-year-old younger brother were murdered in the gas chamber upon arrival. Erwin endured forced labor and starvation until his liberation by the Russian troops. He, his mother, and his sister immigrated to the United States in 1946.
