2024-2025 Common Read: Poverty, by America by Matthew Desmond

Desmond poses the simple question “why is there so much poverty in America?” and leads the reader through a compelling, multifaceted argument as he makes the case for ending poverty. He calls on everyone to become “poverty abolitionists” —a call we hope to answer through our dialog and interdisciplinary explorations of the issues underlying poverty in America, and especially in our community.
