Bergen Community College has the distinction of being one of the first colleges to institute a wellness center servicing the entire college community.

The idea of developing a wellness program was introduced in 1995 and it quickly gained interest in the Fall of 1997.The Wellness Center then found its home which is now located in G208 and HS102. The program soon attracted the interest of many with curiosity about health issues.

The Wellness Center committee is composed of interested students, staff, faculty, leading health and mental health organizations, who meet to develop and present programs on current topical issues. The Wellness Center trains peer educators each semester,to become advocates on campus for programs such as: mental health awareness, smoking cessation, anti-violence venues and mentoring.Other activities sponsored by the Wellness Center includes: relaxation strategies, stress management and eating well.
