How did an Afro-Caribbean merchant sailor become a prisoner in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II and survive to tell about it? This session, presented by Mary Romney, answers this question through the true story of Lionel Romney, the presenter’s father, who told her about his wartime experiences in a series of oral history interviews. The presenter discusses the importance of oral history for Black families within the context of Black history.
