The first Asian American and person of color to lead one of the state’s most diverse colleges, Dr. Lim grew up in Malaysia as an ethnic minority with limited means. He supported himself through college and was the first member of the family to earn a college degree. A mechanical engineer, a renowned scholar, an educator, and the ninth president of NJIT, he is committed to using his own experience to ensure that NJIT is welcoming to students of all backgrounds, especially encouraging first-generation and female students to enter STEM programs. Dr. Lim has been creating a strong technological and physical infrastructure at NJIT to adapt to the digital revolution.
