PARAMUS, N.J. – Through an agreement with the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) as part of the New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development, the Bergen Community College Division of Continuing Education, Corporate and Public Sector Training offers free basic skills training programs for businesses and their employees.

Programs offered to small, medium and large businesses include skills training in verbal and written communication, Microsoft products, customer service, Spanish and math.

In order to qualify for the free training, businesses must:

  • Operate in New Jersey;
  • Prove compliance with all applicable state tax laws;
  • Report the company name and federal employer identification number to the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development;
  • Provide a roster of employees scheduled for training;
  • Supply pre- and post-assessment scores, hours and attendance records of employees who participated in training.

Please note, public, state and county employers are not eligible for the program.

Employers must pay their employees at their regular rate while they attend training classes.

Bergen Community College (www.bergen.edu) based in Paramus is a public two-year coeducational college, enrolling nearly 17,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip J. Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst.
