PARAMUS, N.J. – From prepping for pigskin to Legos and languages, the Bergen Community College Division of Continuing Education, Corporate and Public Sector Training offers classes and programs to explore interests, grow professionally or prepare for future goals.
According to Dean of Continuing Education Christine Gillespie, the division seeks to serve all members of the community through its offerings.
“The Bergen County region is a vibrant and dynamic community of diverse families, businesses and industries,” she said. “It is our goal to provide high-quality, accessible, innovative and affordable training and educational opportunities for all members of the community.”
Highlights this fall include:
The “Excellence in Visitor Experience: Providing a Warm Welcome” customer service and business retention technique program, which, in cooperation with the Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce, will prepare employees of Meadowlands retail, tourism, sports and leisure companies for the February 2014 Super Bowl. Information sessions on fashion design (Saturday, September 21, 10 a.m.), interior design (Tuesday, September 24, 6:30 p.m.) and the New Pathways to Teaching in NJ program (Wednesday, November 6, 6:00 p.m.). All take place in the Technology Education Center at Bergen’s main campus in Paramus.
A low-pressure black seal boiler operator’s license exam preparation course. The 14-session, $325 course will meet September 11 through December 18.
Comprehensive offerings for health professions careers – including programs for home health aide certification, certified nursing assistants and phlebotomy technicians.
Courses for kids and teens that allow them to earn a merit badge in aviation, prepare for the SATs or even learn to build with Legos.
A seven-session animal control officer training program, which meets October 5 through November 23 and has been approved by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services to prepare individuals for employment as control officers in municipalities.
