PARAMUS, N.J. – Use your words wisely. Bergen Community College student Nina Russo, of Lodi, did exactly that when she ‘talked’ her way to the top – winning the president’s award for best speaker – at the institution’s eighth annual speech competition April 23. Competing against 82 other students for $3,000 in scholarships sponsored by the College’s foundation, Russo (left) accepted the first place award from Jane Phelps, professor and competition director. The student’s speech examined the impact of technology on sleep deprivation.
