Katie ConteBergen Community College class of 2022 valedictorian Katie Conte entered college after a 20-year career in special education. “As a Bergen County employee, Bergen Community College was not only an affordable option, but it strengthened my ties to the community,” said Conte. Conte has provided leadership for Bergen’s Alpha Epsilon Phi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and the CCAMPIS Student Parent Fellowship. When asked what made her successful at Bergen, Conte said, “The faculty at Bergen not only want to see their students succeed, but they become a part of their cheering section.”

In celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week from May 2-8, 2021, Bergen Community College recognized aspiring education student, Katie Conte, who was nominated by Professor Melissa Krieger. Conte graduated with an associate’s degree in education and credits Bergen’s education program in placing her on the right track to become a teacher. Conte said, “Bergen Community College’s education program has provided me with the foundation necessary to become an effective teacher. Bergen is more than an investment in knowledge, it is an investment in the future.”
