PARAMUS, N.J. – Germaine M. Ortiz has rejoined the Bergen Community College board of trustees, taking the oath of office at a regular meeting of the institution’s governing panel Sept. 1. She previously served on the College’s board from 2004 to 2013.
Ortiz, of Emerson, works as a vice president at Dinsmore Capital Management in Morristown. In addition to serving on the College’s board, her civic work has included roles on governing bodies such as the Bergen County Utilities Authority and Palisades Park borough council. Ortiz also served as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention at each of the past three convocations (2004, 2008, 2012). Ortiz graduated with a B.A. in communication and Spanish from Seton Hall University.
Also at the Sept. 1 meeting, board Treasurer Dorothy Blakeslee, of Wyckoff, began a new term after receiving a reappointment last month. She has served on the board since 2003.
Based in Paramus, Bergen Community College (www.bergen.edu), a public two-year coeducational college, enrolls 16,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip J. Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst. The College offers associate degree, certificate and continuing education programs in a variety of fields. More students graduate from Bergen than any other community college in the state.
