Red Herring

by Michael Hollinger

Ender Hall Lab Theatre

Oct. 31 & Nov. 7, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.

Three love stories, a murder mystery, and a nuclear espionage plot converge in this fast-paced noir comedy. It’s 1952: America’s on the verge of the H-bomb, Dwight Eisenhower’s on the campaign trail, and I Love Lucy’s on Monday nights. Meanwhile, Senator Joe McCarthy’s daughter just got engaged to a Soviet spy, and Boston detective Maggie Pelletier has to find out who dumped the dead guy in the harbor — or else lose out on a honeymoon in Havana. A blunt-nosed, sharp-eyed look at love and tying (and untying, and retying) the knot.

Dec. 5 & 12, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
Set in a 1930s European perfume shop, this charming musical follows two feuding coworkers who don’t realize they’re falling in love as anonymous pen pals. Full of humor, romance, and mistaken identities, the story builds toward a heartfelt and satisfying reveal. Featuring a beautiful score by the Tony Award-winning team behind Fiddler on the Roof (and inspiring the film You’ve Got Mail), She Loves Me is a warm, funny show about connection, vulnerability, and the courage to be seen.

The Adventures of the Black Girl in Her Search for God

Ender Hall Lab Theatre

Feb. 26, 27, Mar. 4*, 5 & 6, 2027 at 7:30 p.m.

Feb. 27 & Mar. 6, 2027 at 2:00 p.m.

Based on George Bernard Shaw’s short story, this comedy follows a young African girl who is abandoned by a white missionary for asking too many questions about God. Taking matters into her own hands, she sets off on her own to find out who—or what—God really is. Along the way, she meets a number of characters who have very different views on God. In the end, she’s forced to make her own decisions on God and her search. The play opens up questions about faith, race, colonialism, education, and who gets to define truth.

This innovative play follows Christopher, a teenage boy with a unique way of seeing the world, as he sets out to solve the mystery of a neighbor’s dead dog. Blending storytelling, movement, and striking visual elements, the play offers a powerful look at perspective, communication, and the challenge of navigating a complex world.
