Dr. Camelia-Manuela Lataianu is an Associate Professor of Sociology in the Department of Social Sciences who joined Bergen Community College in 2009. She earned her Ph.D. in Sociology from the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland in 2001 and her M.A. in Sociology from the Department of Sociology, Psychology, and Pedagogy at University of Bucharest, Romania in 1993.  Before coming to Bergen, she taught sociology at Estrella Mountain Community College in Arizona, at University Pablo de Olavide in Spain, and at the University of Bucharest in Romania. While in Europe, she also worked as a social researcher at the Institute of Sociology from the Romanian Academy of Sciences and also at the Bureau for Social Research in Bucharest, conducting studies focused on family and child protection policies, the access to education, international migration, demographic transition and policies, etc. She also consulted with several international organizations that offer social services to distressed families and children, such as UNICEF, International Labor Organization, International Social Service, and Save the Children.
