The Performing Arts department sponsors 3 clubs at the college: the Music Interactive Club, the Theatre Club, and the Dance Club.

The Music Interactive Club is a student-run organization which puts on various on-campus shows featuring student musical talent. Recent productions have included student recitals, “Bergen Unplugged” featuring acoustic-based performances of original music, and a Battle of the Bands.

In addition, the department sponsors many concerts and theatrical productions throughout the year using student talent.

The Theatre Club

The Theatre Club is one of the most active clubs at Bergen Community College. Its members meet weekly on Wednesdays at 12:30. During our meetings, we discuss and plan the many events and projects in which the club is involved. These include working on the Bergenstages  productions (both onstage and backstage), overseeing bake sales and other fundraisers, organizing and performing in open mic nights and the semi-annual Comedy Improv Nights, attending Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, and enjoying the annual Theatre Club end-of-year banquet.

In addition to these activities, the club makes its meetings fun and exciting, frequently engaging in improvisation and theatre games, reading new student-written plays, having its members share their skills and talents with the club in workshops, and eating goodies brought in by club members for each meeting.

We welcome new members at any time of the year! For more information, students may contact the club advisors: Dr. Leigh Jonaitis ([email protected]) or Prof. Peter Helff ([email protected]).
