Mission Statement:

To serve as an academic and cultural center for learners of all backgrounds: cultivating intellectual growth, expanding economic security, fostering deep community connection, and driving a self-sustaining culture of participatory philanthropy.

About the Center:

The Center for Community Learning (CCL) at Bergen Community College opens the College’s classrooms to the wider community. We work with residents of Bergen County of every age, background, and language to make learning accessible, practical, and welcoming.

The Center offers credit courses, with multilingual support where it helps learners take part. Our programs grow out of what community members tell us they need, and are built in partnership
with local organizations.

Goals:

Intellectual Growth:
Offer lifelong learning opportunities that make college-level study accessible to adults, seniors, and families.

Economic Security:
Build practical skills in personal finance, career development, and workforce readiness that help community members move forward.

Community Connection:
Bring neighbors and generations together through workshops, wellness programs, and cultural events, in partnership with organizations across Bergen County.

Giving Back:
Encourage a culture in which today’s learners return as tomorrow’s mentors, volunteers, and supporters.

Get Involved:

The Center depends on community partners, volunteers, and donors. Gifts to the CCL Fund, held by the Bergen Community College Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, help make
learning affordable for community members. Alumni, students, and neighbors can also give their time as mentors and volunteer instructors.
