Department Recognitions

Recognition by the National Council in Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR)

The National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) is the only organization of its kind that exclusively represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges. As one of the fastest-growing affiliates of the American Association of Community Colleges, NCMPR has more than 1,600 members from nearly 550 colleges across the United States and Canada.

NCMPR’s prestigious Paragon Awards recognize outstanding achievement in design and communication at community and technical colleges. It is the only national competition of its kind that honors excellence exclusively among marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges.

The district Medallion Awards are similar to the Paragons, but recognize excellence in design and communication on a regional basis at community and technical colleges in each of seven districts. The NCMPR District 1 region covers Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.

The Office of Public Relations at Bergen has been awarded 20 NCMPR Medallion and Paragon Awards over the years for its work in strategic communication, communication success story campaigns, fundraising campaigns, newsletters, television programming, print advertisements, webpages, and interior signage/display.
