The Registered Nurse (RN) staff of Health Services provides medical care, emergency first-aid and emergency response to all members of the Bergen Community College community. Students, staff, faculty and visitors can expect prompt, personal attention in a private, confidential office setting.
Individuals seek medical assistance for sprains, strains, burns, lacerations, allergic reactions, headaches, and many types of injuries. Those who require blood pressure or blood sugar monitoring also visit us regularly.
In the event of potentially life-threatening symptoms, such as chest pain, severe abdominal pain, respiratory distress, loss of consciousness, RN staff will call an ambulance. RN staff will stabilize the patient with supportive measures such as oxygen administration while waiting for the paramedics to arrive.
RN staff also responds to medical emergencies on campus, including seizures, fainting, falls and injuries which prevent the individual from reaching our office. Wheelchair transportation back to our office is provided, or, if necessary, an ambulance is called to the site.
