PARAMUS, N.J. – In just the last 18 years, the Bergen Community College Foundation has awarded more than $6.8 million in scholarships to students and awards for special projects. In order to provide further opportunities for local students, the foundation will host its signature gala event, the 29th annual Medallion Awards Dinner, Friday, Nov. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Mahwah Hotel. Dinner tickets are $250; sponsorship opportunities are available.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. – Shuffleboard was for another generation … wasn't it? Senior citizens in Bergen County demand an active lifestyle not dissimilar than the pace they kept in earlier years. But, how do seniors set new goals as they transition to their “golden years?” Sponsored by Bergen Community College’s Suburban Studies Group and the Village of Ridgewood Community Center, “Seniors in Suburbia: Setting New Goals” will offer a panel discussion on the topic Thursday, Nov. 7 from noon to 2:30 p.m. in the Campus Center at Ridgewood High School, 627 East Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood. The event will feature an interactive audience engagement segment.

PARAMUS, N.J. – The tragedy and triumph arising from Hurricane Sandy lives on through “Sandy: Artists Respond to a Once and Future Superstorm,” currently on display in Gallery Bergen, the visual arts exhibition space at Bergen Community College’s main campus in Paramus. At an opening reception the evening of Oct. 15, Bergen faculty, staff and students joined members of the public in viewing the work of 13 area artists.

PARAMUS, N.J. – A panel of local industry professionals will discuss health and well-being at the upcoming Bergen Community College program “Pathways to Wellness: Destination Health.” Hosted in the Technology Education Center in the Moses Family Meeting and Training Center (TEC 128) at the main campus in Paramus, the free and open-to-the-public program takes place Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 9 a.m.

LYNDHURST, N.J. – On the “wheels” of a federal grant, Bergen Community College students can now travel between the school’s Paramus and Meadowlands locations via shuttle bus.

PARAMUS, N.J. – The annual Ars Nova Concert Series returns to Bergen Community College’s Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. with “Duet: The Power of Two” – a production packed with musical mash-ups ranging from classical to acoustic Kanye West.

PARAMUS, N.J. – Bergen Community College’s main campus went to the dogs September 25. Greyhound Friends of New Jersey Inc., a nonprofit organization raising awareness about the mistreatment of racing dogs, visited with students, faculty and staff at the event. Professor Harold Kahn (pictured), of Washington Township, who has organized the event for the past 10 years, works with Greyhound Friends to bring the dogs – and their owners – on campus to share adoption stories.
