PARAMUS, N.J. – In just the last 18 years, the Bergen Community College Foundation has awarded more than $6.8 million in scholarships to students and awards for special projects. In order to provide further opportunities for local students, the foundation will host its signature gala event, the 29th annual Medallion Awards Dinner, Friday, Nov. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Mahwah Hotel. Greyhound Friends of New Jersey Inc., a nonprofit organization raising awareness about the mistreatment of racing dogs, visited with students, faculty and staff at the event. Professor Harold Kahn (pictured), of Washington Township, who has organized the event for the past 10 years, works with Greyhound Friends to bring the dogs – and their owners – on campus to share adoption stories.
