PARAMUS, N.J. – A renewed commitment to programs providing career pathways remains the theme of the Bergen Community College Division of Continuing Education, Corporate and Public Sector Training’s fall 2014 offerings.

PARAMUS, N.J. – Trading in grade books for guitars, Bergen Community College faculty members Dan Sheehan, Andy Krikun and Sony Tiwari starred at the school’s “Summer Music Festival” Aug. 10. In addition to the professors’ performance, the all-day event featured Bergen students, members of the Waldwick School of Rock and sets by R&B artists such as Alyson Williams and Blue Magic.

PARAMUS, N.J. – From Billboard to Bergen Community College, a collection of chart-topping R&B artists will headline the school’s first-ever “Summer Music Festival.” The free event open to the public featuring live music, gourmet food trucks and vendors will take place Sunday, Aug. 10 from noon to 8 p.m. in parking lot C at the College’s main campus, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus.

PARAMUS, N.J. – Bergen County residents Irene Oujo and Victoria Tahhan became members of the Bergen Community College Board of Trustees at the July 8 meeting of the school’s governing body.

PARAMUS, N.J. – Chalk it up as an instance of tutoring paying off. The National College Learning Center Association (NCLCA) has named the Bergen Community College Cerullo Learning Assistance Center as the best two-year school tutoring resource in the nation.

PARAMUS, N.J. – The “Farm 2 Fork” market has returned to Bergen Community College for the summer. The market, which began its run last year, takes place each Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., bringing farmers, bakers and gourmet food purveyors to parking lot “C” at the school’s main campus, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus.

PARAMUS, N.J. – Five Bergen Community College students mentored by school faculty presented at the 22^nd annual Beacon Conference for writing and research June 6 at Ulster County Community College in Stone Ridge, N.Y. The contest drew 120 submissions from students at 12 community colleges in three states.

PARAMUS, N.J. – Six Bergen County high school students claimed first-place honors in categories such as poetry and drama in the 38^th annual Bergen County High School Writing Contest sponsored by the Bergen Community College English department. The contest, directed by Bergen professor Peter Helff, featured six categories of submissions – scholarly essay, poetry, personal essay, recent American, short story and drama – judged by Bergen faculty. The work of 27 finalists became part of the “Pegasus” literary journal published each year by the College.

PARAMUS, N.J. – Bergen Community College Bulldogs slick-fielding second-year shortstop James Donohue, of Ridgefield Park, has earned a 2014 NJCAA ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award for stellar defensive play. En route to becoming the first Bulldog in school history to earn the award, Donohue notched 43 putouts, 64 assists and six double plays, making only one error. Bulldogs coach Steven Mimms, who led the squad to a 17-16 record, also relied on Donohue’s offensive contributions – he hit .355 and tied for the team lead in runs scored (21). Donohue’s postseason honors included spots on the all-region and -conference second teams.
