PARAMUS, N.J. – Call it a “healthy” start. More than 100 Bergen Community College students, faculty, staff and guests gathered this morning to witness the groundbreaking of the $26 million Health Professions Integrated Teaching Center at the school’s main campus. The building represents the College’s capital improvement project as part of the $750 million Building our Future Bond Act, approved by New Jersey voters in the November 2012 elections. All bond act projects must expand a school’s academic capacity and have a direct impact on student instruction.

PARAMUS, N.J. – Reading, writing … and raspberries? A transformation occurs every Wednesday in the Scoskie Hall parking lot at Bergen Community College, turning the asphalt car corral into the “Farm 2 Fork” market, a bustling bazaar of farmers, bakers and gourmet food purveyors offering a locally produced bounty of fruit, bread, sauce and cheese. At a recent visit, Jodi Nicola, of Hackensack, and Melinda Randolph, of Garfield, (pictured l. to r.) shopped the artisanal delights from Meredith’s Bread, an Ulster County, N.Y., bakery. The Farm 2 Fork market takes place in the Scoskie Hall parking lot every Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Bergen Community College’s main campus in Paramus, 400 Paramus Road.

The College will celebrate its 44^th commencement exercises, with Bergen President Dr. B. Kaye Walter as the keynote speaker. The class of 2013 includes graduates from August 2012, December 2012 and May 2013. As of May 7, 2013, excluding those candidates receiving certificate degrees, 15 percent of the students are receiving associate in arts degrees, 19 percent of the students are receiving associate in applied science degrees and 66 percent of the students are receiving associate in science degrees.
