PARAMUS, N.J. – Put it in the books: for the second time, Bergen Community College librarian Lynn Schott has won the President’s Award from the New Jersey Library Association (NJLA).

Schott accepted the award at the organization’s annual conference last month in Atlantic City. James Keehbler, of the Piscataway Public Library, serves as the group’s current president.

“Lynn Schott is always there when NJLA needs her help,” Keehbler said at the event, “and she always comes through above and beyond with professionalism, dedication and heart.”

The two-time president’s award winner – 2009, 2016 – represents the only Bergen librarian to notch the honor, which the NJLA has awarded annually since 1993. The award recognizes an NJLA member who has supported the organization and the overall mission of libraries.

An associate professor, Schott began at the main campus’ Sidney Silverman Library in 2001 and serves as a liaison for students seeking reference assistance in the sciences and mathematics. She also co-manages the College’s archives, which contains approximately 100,000 publications, photographs and artifacts amassed during the institution’s near 50-year history. In support of the archives and other projects, Schott has received numerous grants totaling more than $10,000.

Established in 1890, the NJLA remains the oldest and largest library organization in the state.

Based in Paramus, Bergen Community College (www.bergen.edu), a public two-year coeducational college, enrolls 15,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst. The College offers associate degree, certificate and continuing education programs in a variety of fields. More students graduate from Bergen than any other community college in the state.
