Runners at the 2023 Hero 5K starting line.

PARAMUS, N.J. – After raising $15,000 for Bergen Community College student military veterans in 2023, the institution’s Hero 5K run will return for its ninth year on Sunday, November 3. The event, sponsored by the Bergen Community College Foundation and the College’s veterans committee, will take place at Bergen’s main campus at 400 Paramus Road in Paramus. The USA Track & Field certified course winds through the College’s pastoral campus and the adjacent Orchard Hills Golf Course. Offering three options for participation – a 5K (8:30 a.m.), a children’s 1K (9:30 a.m.) and a virtual 5K (any time, anywhere) for those who cannot make the event, but still want to support Bergen’s veterans – the first 300 registrants will receive a Hero 5K t-shirt, while the top three finishers in each age and group will receive a Hero 5K pint glass. The event will also feature a vendor village and bounce house for children. Registration for the 5Ks is $35; the 1K is $15 – all proceeds support Bergen’s student veterans’ tuition, books, housing and emergency needs. Register at runsignup.com/Race/NJ/Paramus/bcc5k.
