PARAMUS, N.J. – Bergen Community College faculty and administrators have selected two projects as the school’s submissions to the League of Innovation in the Community College for the organization’s John and Suanne Roueche Excellence Award and the Innovation of the Year Award: Professor Rachel Wieland’s work with the College’s student-comprised “green team” and Professor Margaret Hayes’ mobilization of nursing faculty in integrating video evaluations into coursework.

PARAMUS, N.J. – Coinciding with the release of its winter/spring 2014 catalog, the Bergen Community College Division of Continuing Education, Corporate and Public Sector Training will host two information sessions on its popular interior and fashion design certificate programs in the next few weeks. The interior design session will take place Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m.; fashion design will follow on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 10 a.m. Both will meet in the Technology Education Center at Bergen’s main campus in Paramus, 400 Paramus Road.

LYNDHURST, N.J. – The “season of giving” came early for 110 Bergen Community College students Dec. 13 at the third annual mid-year scholarship awards ceremony, which took place at the school’s location in Lyndhurst – Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands. The event gave students an opportunity to meet the Bergen Community College Foundation donors who made more than $180,000 in scholarships possible.

PARAMUS, N.J. – After school officials formally certified a transfer agreement between the two institutions Dec. 17, students can now depart from Bergen Community College and arrive at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The agreement allows a transfer of credits from Bergen, the state’s largest community college, to Embry-Riddle, the Daytona Beach, FL institution recognized for its aeronautical degree programs. Embry-Riddle will accept at least 64 credits from Bergen.

PARAMUS, N.J. – Bergen Community College’s Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre offers a free and open to the public holiday theatrical experience with its presentation of Skyline Theatre’s “A Christmas Carol” Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 12:30 and 7:30 p.m.

PARAMUS, N.J. – Registration for winter and spring courses at Bergen Community College will open for all students Monday, Nov. 25. Students can register at any of Bergen’s three locations or online at my.bergen.edu. Winter classes begin Jan. 2; the first slate of spring classes begins Jan. 21.

PARAMUS, N.J. – Two Bergen Community College students, Janus Varela of Bergenfield and Brenda Turkdogan of Clifton, each received $2,000 scholarships from the State of New Jersey for the cost of enrollment in certificate programs at Bergen as part of the Governor’s Industry Vocations Scholarship for Women and Minorities (NJ-GIVS).

PARAMUS, N.J. – Bergen Community College rolled out a red, white and blue carpet for its student veterans with the opening of the Veterans and Military Affairs Center today.

HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Women’s Institute at Bergen Community College will host several career mentoring opportunities for women who wish to develop their professional skills in diverse industries such as real estate, technology, retail and food service. The free-of-charge “Career Mentoring Sessions” will take place throughout the year at Bergen Community College’s Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack.

Bergen Community College Open Houses Scheduled

PARAMUS, N.J. – In November and December, Bergen Community College will host free open houses for prospective students at two of its locations: Paramus (main campus) and Lyndhurst (Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands).
