PARAMUS, N.J. – This is no act.
For his support of the arts, the Skyline Theatre Company recognized Bergen Community College performing arts professor Jim Bumgardner, of Upper Nyack, N.Y., as its 2014 Horizon Award honoree at the group’s annual “Concert of Stars” gala Feb. 28 at the George Frey Center for Arts and Recreation.
“Jim has become a tremendous supporter of Skyline in the past few years,” Sam Scalamoni, Skyline’s artistic director, said. “Inviting Skyline to be distinguished artists at Bergen and guiding many students to our apprentice program, Jim has had a great impact on Skyline and its programs.”
In addition to teaching at Bergen, Bumgardner produces “Bergenstages,” the College’s theater production series each year. Bumgardner earned an M.F.A. in directing from Sarah Lawrence College and a B.A. in theatre and romance languages from St. Andrews University.
“I am very humbled and flattered to be receiving this award,” he said. “The wonderful work that the Skyline Theatre brings to Bergen County is truly award enough. I look forward to many, many more years of collaboration between Bergen Community College and the Skyline Theatre Company.”
